Anti-aging active ingredient for cosmetics
The high-purity fucoidan extract derived from the brown algae Undaria pinnatifida was specifically developed for high-performance anti-aging and healthy-aging formulations. In a 12-week clinical study, this cosmetic active ingredient reduced wrinkle depth by 9.5% and skin roughness by 8%, while skin elasticity increased by 17%. At the same time, fucoidan helps protect collagen and elastin and counteracts processes that contribute to premature loss of skin firmness. The brown algae extract is therefore suitable for serums, creams, eye care products, and other firming facial care formulations.
Protection against UV damage, redness, and moisture loss
UV radiation and other external stressors can contribute to redness, moisture loss, and visible signs of premature skin aging. In a double-blind, placebo-controlled human study, a formulation containing 0.3% fucoidan extract reduced UV-induced skin redness by up to 45%. At the same time, water loss in UV-exposed skin was significantly reduced. The active ingredient supports both the skin’s protective mechanisms against stress and its subsequent regeneration. This makes it particularly suitable for after-sun products, barrier-repair formulations, daytime skincare, and cosmetic formulations for sensitive or environmentally stressed skin.
High-purity raw material derived from Undaria pinnatifida
The fucoidan extract contains at least 85% fucoidan and is available as a water-soluble, creamy white to beige powder. This COSMOS-certified raw material is stable at processing temperatures up to 60 °C and within a pH range of 4.0 to 7.0. The recommended usage concentration is only 0.1–0.3%, allowing the active ingredient to be cost-effectively incorporated into various cosmetic formulations.
